Making Your First Tune: A Guide For DJs

    Recording Studio

I just came across this great series of beginner tutorials for DJs who want to start making music. These days tutorials are much easier to come by then when I started making music, but with so much information out there it can be difficult to navigate at times. This four part series by Joey Santos from Digital DJ Tips gives you some great tips to get started right away. This particular set of videos is aimed at the beginner, but there are plenty of resources out there for the more experienced music maker to learn new things. Some of the places I like to check out include Pensado’s Place, Sound On Sound (Secrets of the Mix Engineers), and Dubspot. I’m also fond of the publications Music Tech, Computer Music, and Future Music. Please share some of the places and resources you like to use to get your production information.

Here are Parts I-IV of the video series Making Your First Tune:

    Part I

    Part II

    Part III

    Part IV
